Revisiting the Cyprus problem

 

With persistent reports that with the start of Turkey’s accession negotiations settled, the way may be opened for the international community to refocus its efforts for a Cyprus settlement, the Research Center – Intercollege organizes a timely conference entitled “Revisiting the Cyprus Problem”. Distinguished speakers will make their assessment of the state of play, offer their insight on what went wrong, the lessons that can be learned and future prospects. The internal and external factors that shape the current context and which will prove crucial to any new effort will also be examined.  The speakers are: Gustave Feissel, former United Nations Assistant Secretary-General, Kutlay Erk, Secretary of Foreign Relations, Turkish Republican Party, Alexis Galanos, Former President, House of Representatives, Vasos Lyssarides, Honorary President, Social Democratic Party, EDEK, Mustafa Akinci, President, Peace and Democracy Movement BDH and Claire Palley, Constitutional Expert.  The conference will be chaired by Professor of Political Economy and Director General of the Research Center – Intercollege, Andreas Theophanous.
