Two timely seminars in which highly regarded academics and researchers from Cyprus and abroad will offer their expert views on two important topics will take place at the Research Center - Intercollege in April 2006.

 

On Monday, 10 April 2006, the Center is organizing a seminar entitled “Federalism and Subsidiarity in the EU – Lessons for Cyprus”. The speakers include Heinrich Neisser, Professor of Political Science, Institute of Political Science, Innsbruck University – Austria, Former-Representative of the Austrian Government to the EU, Christina Ioannou, Research Fellow, Research Center – Intercollege and Andreas Theophanous, Professor of Political Economy, Research Center – Intercollege. Eva Hager, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria will deliver a welcoming address. The seminar, which will commence at 18.00, will be chaired by Michalis Attalides, Professor of Sociology, Dean of School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law, Intercollege. On Thursday, 13 April 2006, the Research Center – Intercollege will organize a seminar which will reflect on the report “The Cyprus Stalemate: What Next?” prepared and presented recently by the Brussels based International Crisis Group. Michalis Attalides, Professor of Sociology, Dean of School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law, Intercollege, Yiouli Taki, Senior Researcher, Index: Research and Dialogue and Andreas Theophanous, Professor of Political Economy, Research Center – Intercollege will offer their perspective on the report. The seminar, which will commence at 18.15, will be chaired by Hubert Faustmann, Associate Professor of History, Department of European Studies and International Relations, Intercollege.
