Book Presentation and Forthcoming Publication

 

Book Presentation:

The Research Center – Intercollege in collaboration with the Department of Law of Intercollege organized on Thursday, 5 July, 2007, the presentation of the book “A Functional Cyprus Settlement: The Constitutional Dimension” (Peleus, Studien zur Archäologie und Geschichte Griechenlands und Zyperns, Band 38, Verlag Fanz Philipp Rutzen, 2007), by Tim Potier, Assistant Professor of International Law, Department of Law, Intercollege. Dr. Kypros Chrysostomides, President of Epalxi Anasygrotisis Kentrou and Member of the House of Representatives and Emine Erk, Chairperson of the Turkish Cypriot Human Rights Foundation elaborated on the structure, content and importance of Mr Potier’s book.  The author, a resident of Cyprus, in his concluding comments thanked the presenters and spoke of the long and hard work that went into writing the book. He said he hoped would help the debate ahead of any new effort for a negotiated Cyprus settlement.   The event, which was chaired by Professor Andreas Theophanous, Director General of the Center and Head of the Department of European Studies and International Relations culminated with the closing remarks of Kaniye Ebeku, Associate Professor of Law and Head of the Department of Law of Intercollege.

Forthcoming Publication:

The book “Reflections on the Relations between Britain and the Republic of Cyprus and the Case of the British Sovereign Base Areas” (Intercollege Press, 2007), edited by Andreas Theophanous and Yiannis Tirkides, is due for publication in September.  This study examines some sensitive aspects of this relationship and integrates public perceptions in the analysis.
