International Symposium entitled

“State, Religion, National Identity and the Advent of the European Union”

 

 

The Research and Development Center Intercollege in cooperation with the Dialogue Chair of Middle

Eastern Studies – Intercollege is organising an international symposium entitled

“State, Religion, National Identity and the Advent of the European Union” on 18-19 March 2005.

 

The symposium, starts on Friday, March 18 at 17.15, and is divided into four sessions:

 

I. “The Broader Context”,

II. “South Eastern Europe and Turkey”,

III. “The Middle East” and

IV. “The Eastern European Experience”.

 

Top diplomats, academics and analysts from Russia, Poland, Israel, Serbia-Montenegro, Greece, Turkey,

Iran, Lebanon and Cyprus will deliberate on the various aspects of the subject and examine how the issues

of State, Religion and National Identity affect the EU, Cyprus and the broader region.  

 

The symposium, which will be opened and addressed by Kypros Chrysostomides, Spokesman of the Government

of the Republic of Cyprus, will take place at Intercollege’s premises in Makedonitissa. Entrance is free for the
