                                “Educational Kit for Young Farmers in Candidate Countries”

 

Summary

The project aims at promoting the competitiveness of agriculture and the entrepreneurship among young

farmers in candidate countries and thus contributes to the restoring and enhancing the competitiveness of

rural areas and to the maintenance and creation of employment in those areas. It will achieve its aim by

providing the young farmers with critical knowledge and information on areas that, despite their important

role in the survival and modernization of agriculture they have not been covered before in such a holistic

approach. These areas are: a) European Union and the Common Agricultural Policy, b) Environment and

Agriculture, c) Occupational Health & Safety in Agriculture, d) Quality and Safety in food production and

e) Non-agricultural complementary economic activities. The target group of the project is young farmers

from 20-35 years old from candidate countries.

 

Objectives

 The specific objectives that the project will strive to fulfill are:

a)       the evaluation of existing educational material in the above mentioned areas and research of

          existing literature and previous research project’s results,

b)       the identification of the needs of young farmers in candidate countries for information on the

          specific areas,

c)       the development of an innovative educational kit that will meet the identified needs, aims and

          objectives of the target group,

d)       the testing of the developed educational kit through a series of training of trainers and training of

          young farmers seminars,

e)       the evaluation of these seminars and the adaptation of the educational kit according to the results

          of this evaluation and

f)         the dissemination of the final product to potential users.

 

Aims of the Project

 The Educational Kit

 The educational kit will include

a)       Printed material for each one of the 5 areas to be covered in the form of

·         Handbook

·         Posters

·         Brochures

b)       CD-Rom,

·         Presentations

·         Posters for printing

·         Comics comparing good examples and non-acceptable behavior (occupational safety, first aid, etc.)

·         Tests and questions for self – control

·         Short films

·         Supporting materials for teachers and trainers

·         List of resources for further information

The Educational Kit will be translated in all the 6 languages of the partners.
