An independent non-profit-making institution associated with Intercollege, the Research and Development Center - Intercollege, set up in 1993, operates as an Institute of Public, European and International Affairs, offering services in the areas of economics, politics, social studies and the environment. The main thrust of the Center's contribution is in its think-tank activities for which it has acquired an excellent reputation and which include the organization of symposia, seminars and international conferences and the publication of studies, conference papers, research reports and the scholarly journal The Cyprus review.

The Cyprus problem, Greco-Turkish relations, the European Union, security and cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean and developments in the wider region have a central role in the Center's activities.

The Center also maintains strong links with academic and research institutions in other countries.

It collaborates with Intercollege for the coordination of the BA and MA programs in International Relations.
